Word of mouth. We all love to engage in it. We all love to benefit from it. These statistics, released by WOMMA (The Word of Mouth Marketing Association based in America) last week serve to remind us of how important it is.
We know that word of mouth is more trusted than traditional advertising. But, you may be surprised, as I was that 9/10 conversations about brands still occur offline. I believe, however, that with the rising ubiquitousness and adoption of social media, we’ll be seeing it used for this purpose more and more. The reason I believe this is that online word of mouth is so much easier than offline word of mouth. Well, it is for me anyway, I could be wrong. Take yourself for instance, would it be easier to talk about this blog post with someone or would it be easier to share on your social media profile (e.g. Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook?)
Putting the quality of the interaction aside for a moment, I think that for most people clicking the button would be easier.
