How I learned to shift focus from Results to Actions

Five years ago, I was stuck in a cycle of chasing results in my business and personal health. I was all about the outcome. Yet, massive change eluded me. Then, something incredible happened—I discovered the magic of focusing on actions, not just the results. This shift has not only changed my approach but also my life.

Here’s how focusing on actions can create magic in your journey, too.

Chasing Results

Results (Lagging Indicators) are measures of past performance. They tell you where you’ve been and the outcomes of your previous actions. These indicators are often out of your control and can lead to frustration because they don’t guide you in improving or moving forward.

The “Aha” Moment

Then came a breakthrough. I began concentrating on Actions (Leading Indicators)—the daily proactive steps that are within our control. These indicators guide your actions and ensure you’re on the right path to achieving your goals.
In business, it’s not just about the revenue at the end of the quarter; it’s about the calls we made, the messages we sent, the follow-up we did, the content we created, the wins we enabled, and the hands we shook.
In health, it’s not just about the scale; it’s about what you eat today and how you move.

Why Leading Indicators Matter

Leading indicators are your best friend! They guide your actions and confirm you’re on the right path. If you get the leading indicators right, the lagging indicators will follow.

Today, we measure not just the results but also the actions taken to achieve them.

Here’s the deal: You will never directly control the results, but you can control the actions that lead to those results.

The Power of Action

Often, just doing the thing gets the getting. So, if you’re not there yet, and you’re still grinding, and wondering if you’ll ever just get there… keep going, because you don’t win by achieving, you win by becoming the person the hard work forged.

A Game-Changing Mindset

This mindset shift has been a game changer for me in running my business and managing my health. Today, I focus on what I can control. And it makes all the difference. When I keep my eyes on the actions, the results come. Always.
