MORNING

“When I arrive at the office at 9 AM, I switch on my computer (supplied by LiveseySolar) and get cracking! I login to the company project management software (Basecamp) to see what projects I am working on. Then, I make a quick cup of tea.. and might have a bit of breakfast… the office is supplied with nibbles like cereal and fruit, which is nice when you’ve had a busy morning, and didn’t get a chance to grab breakfast!

I find that I need to be pretty autonomous and have good administration skills in order to keep on top of things. Basecamp tells me what I have to do on a daily basis: whether that is checking our client’s website to see if it needs updating, writing and using a programme to SEO a blog or organizing new leaflets to be printed – I’m always doing something different, and if ever I run out of projects, I have learned to always be asking for what I need!

LiveseySolar encourage a ‘whistle while you work!’ environment, so I’m constantly searching Spotify, and listening to my favorite music.

I HAVE TO LEARN QUICKLY AND TEST MY COMPUTER SKILLS DAILY

I find that a typical day as a marketing intern ranges from using power point to make a presentation, uploading blog posts on a client’s website and using software to SEO the content and find keywords. I use Excel to compare data, Flickr to source images, Microsoft word to write content, Gmail to monitor/attend to my emails and Skype to talk to staff abroad.

“My role as a marketing intern mainly involved working with search engine marketing, CRM marketing and working with database software and project management software. I was also involved with web and blog development projects.” –Hyeran Kong

EVERYDAY IS DIFFERENT SO I’M NEVER BORED

Trust me! We work on over 10 projects simultaneously for UK companies, all relating to healthcare. I have to prioritise my workload and attend to more pressing concerns first. I sometimes have tight deadlines too and need to turn work around quickly, order couriers to deliver projects on time, and get feedback from internal staff to finalize projects. I rarely get stressed though, so the workload is always manageable!

AND THE VIEWS NOT SO BAD…

I have the privilege of sitting at a window that looks out across some of the most stunning views in London too. Tower Bridge, the Gherkin…the views help me think and give me creative inspiration!

AFTER WORK

I stay until 5pm and might head for a bite to eat afterwards. There are some great restaurants and bars around the office in London Bridge and Bermondsey and it’s always lively!

Applying and securing the marketing internship at LiveseySolar has been challenging, rewarding and inspiring. Each day brings new tasks and I’m constantly on the go!”
